About
Shawndel N. Fraser
Shawndel is an environmental psychologist and interdisciplinary artist whose work bridges art, community, place-based engagement, and processes of social and personal transformation.
With a foundation in psychology and the social and ecological sciences, she integrates qualitative and ethnographic research methods with artistic practices in nature-based settings.
A craftswoman rooted in ceramics, bookbinding, and fiber, her work is embedded in trade lineages and unfolds through relational, place-based practice with tradesmen.
My Approach
Using her proprietary methodology, Artful Transcendence©, Shawndel curates intentional, participatory experiences that foster connection, reflection, and collective insight. Her work creates space for people to engage complex social, cultural, and ecological issues with clarity, care, and responsibility through conversation, shared experience, and creative practice. In her practice, art may take the form of a sculpture, a book, or another object — or it may emerge through shared experience itself: a moment of dialogue, ritual, or presence within workshops, public programs, or site-based projects that becomes the work.
